Been quite busy & debating.....

Life has been hectic lately. I am still deciding if this is the right place for me and am not sure when I'll be back to blog, if at all. There has been an awful lot of betrayal since I left a certain website along with rumours, accusations and plain old un-Christian acts. However, I am taking a higher road, and I am praying for those lost and hippocritical souls. Times like this you know who your true friends are and I thank those of you that are!

Salmonella outbreak linked to 2 peanut butter brands

Salmonella outbreak linked to 2 peanut butter brands "ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- A salmonella outbreak that has slowly grown to nearly 300 cases in 39 states since August has been linked to tainted peanut butter, federal health officials said Wednesday. It is believed to be the first salmonella outbreak associated with peanut butter in U.S. history, said officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 20 percent of the 288 infected people have been hospitalized, but none has died, said Dr. Mike Lynch, a CDC epidemiologist. About 85 percent of the infected people said they ate peanut butter, CDC officials said. How salmonella got into peanut butter is still under investigation, Lynch said. The Food and Drug Administration warned consumers not to eat certain jars of Peter Pan or Great Value peanut butter because of the risk of contamination. The affected jars have a product code on the lid that begins with the number "2111." The affected jars are made b...

Thanks & No Thanks....

I want to take a moment to thank those that were kind enough to email or IM and respectfully ask if everything was ok & if there was anything wrong, and above all, those I knew were praying for me. I did get all offline messages. Both those of concern as well as those of sarcasm (those were not appreciated! :-( ).

Hasbro recalls nearly 1 million Easy-Bake Ovens

"WASHINGTON, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Hasbro Inc. (HAS.N: Quote , Profile , Research ) agreed on Tuesday to voluntarily recall nearly 1 million of its toy Easy-Bake Ovens because children's hands can get caught in the opening, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said. The agency said there have been 29 reports of children getting hands and fingers caught in the oven's opening, including five instances in which they were burned. The recall affects 985,000 of the Chinese-made purple and pink plastic toys that resemble kitchen ranges with four burners on top and a front-loading oven, the agency said. Only ovens sold after May 2006 are affected, it said." Click here for link Or click title ^^^.

To-do, blessings, and cold hands

My hands are so cold today and it's driving me bonkers. I think I'll be making some breads later and hopefully some muffins for snack and breks this week. I'd like to put some stuff in the freezer. I would LOVE to make some cinnamon rolls for the freezer, but after being sick yesterday and still sort of ick today, I may hold off on those. I have laundry going, so that is a BIG goal for me today. It was grossly pi led up as Mondays are usually my day to start doing massive loads from the weekend. I also need to clean up the living from from where I have all my sewing stuff. I might cut some more squares. Chrisi asked if the squares were cut from anything. I collect old jeans and use them. So it is basically a recycled jeans project. I plan on making 1 for each of the boys. I am building a "Leaving the nest chest" for each of them. Comparable to a girls' Hope Chest. They will each get a denim patchwork quilt, some decoupaged mats in picture frames (I collect ...

Lotion "recipe"

I told Melody I'd post the recipe for the lotion I "made" for folks for CHRISTmas. My Elders have excruciatingly dry winter skin. So when I saw the recipe calling for E cream, petroleum jelly & baby lotion, I though, not only would that be great in the ladies' smelly good baskets, but that *I* would LOVE to have some around the house. Unfortunately when I went looking at the last minute (I didn't find the recipe til the last minute) I couldn't find E cream. So here is *my* version of the lotion. A little goes a LONG way, trust me!!! Lotion Blend by Kayla: * 15oz bottle baby lotion * 8oz petroleum jelly * 4-5oz shea butter (this comes in a small tub, usually scented and is not the plain straight shea, but I'm sure that would work as well) Plop your ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix on low til slightly blended, then on medium til light and fluffy, scraping and folding every minute or so with a rubber spatula, to ensure total incorporation and blend...
