Made where?

I've been doing a LOT of research finding toys NOT made in China. I've been googling, reading news stories, studying packages & calling companies in regards to this "epidemic," of sorts. I know there's a lot of controversy over this. I also know that just because items are made somewhere other than China doesn't necessarily make them safe. HOWEVER, the majority of toy recalls lately have been "Made in China." I feel that if we can make our voices heard on this issue, it will scream to other companies that junk will not be tolerated. Here is a list of 20 companies/sites that make toys NOT in China. Be aware of labels though, as sometimes country of origin may change. I'm also human & would advise you err on the side of caution. Ask before ordering online or from a catalog. Read the boxes when you're in a store and holding something from your child's wish list. I don't mind if you use this list elsewhere, but please link back to...

Buzzards

I chuckled at Jen's "While I was otherwise engaged, the taggers started circling and I've been hit not once, but three times!" comment! Anyhoo, she tagged me with the following: 7 Random Facts About Me tag: I'm obsessed with boxes & rubbermaids. Hubba picks on me for my collections of both. But ya just never know when you need to wrap a pressie or ship an item. And the rubbermaids keep me sanely organised. *sigh* He just doesn't understand. I graduated after 2 years of Graphic Communications. Obviously I'm not using that training. I don't like baking in the summer I spend a couple hours per week working on coupons & sale ads to get the best deals along with free & cheap items I've already started shopping AND wrapping my CHRISTmas pressies Speaking of which, I've spent the last 2 years NOT in the CHRISTmas spirit, not even on CHRISTmas eve or CHRISTmas day. This year, I'm already totally PSYCHED about it!! I want another (more...

Oooooo...... I've been tagged!

Miss Molly left a comment for me saying I'd been tagged. So I pop on over to her blog and here it is: The Rules: 1. Each player lists 8 random facts/habits about themselves 2. At the end of your blog you need to tag 8 people and post their names 3. Don’t forget to leave them a comment and tell them they’re tagged and to read your blog. I bite the skin around my nails. I decided about a week ago that I was going to quit. It's going so-so. BUT!!! I do not bite my nails I'd sleep til 10am every day if I could. But I can't and don't. I have piercings- naval, tragus, nose. I don't wear the nose ring. I dream of life in Montana I LOVE graham crackers dipped in melted milk chocolate I'm certified in Graphic Arts. That was a LONG time ago. I hate feet and other people's bodily fluids. So with no further ado, I tag anyone that reads this. Leave me a comment with your link and let me know!

Growing Older- 50 life lessons

This is an email I rec'd. 1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good. 2. When in doubt, just take the next small step. 3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. 4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does. 5. Pay off your credit cards every month. 6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree. 7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone. 8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it. 9.. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck. 10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile. 11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present. 12. It's OK to let your children see you cry. 13. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about. 14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it. 15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks. 16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy...

Amazing Mommy feats- Thursday 13

I'm loving these "memes" here lately. I'm also loving seeing more and more blogs out there! And of course, I'm LOVIN' the comments! teehee.... I love mingling! Now I'm not sure I'm doing this one right, so TT'ers, some guidance, please? - You may not be able to find their volume switches, but ignoring is a fine art! - You can hold off on illness until all the kids are better - You're the ONLY one that knows where the odd sock mate is, the pencil sharpener and the chia pet, but darned if you can find your own seam ripper or scissors. - You can break up a fight faster than than a referee on speed. - You can make oatmeal stick to more than just ribs - You can bring down a house simply by saying the word booger - Veggie-eating-coersion is another fine art - You can sing word for word, at least 14 kids' show songs, forward, backward & in your sleep (and unfortunately in the last one, you do) - You can remember exactly what each child does an...

Happy Tuesday

Hello my friends! It's a pretty sunny day out today, & it's supposed to be in the 60's. Hopefully I can boot the boys out for some good ol' fashioned vitamin D, LOL. Yesterday was a busy day. I dusted the homeschool room, swept, vacced & mopped it as well. My vac bag popped so I had to clean that all up as well. Decided while I was at, I'd wipe the whole vac down. Th en my swiffer wet pads weren't so wet anymore. I had to mix some cleaning solution and re-soak those (I think my floor cleaning was being sabotaged, LOL). I did a load of laundry, cleaned out a couple more bins & packed up an ebay package. I got the kitty litter box emptied and refilled, & I did all the little things- making the bed, brushing teeth (mine & Keenan's), showered, shaved (I remember why I don't shave in the shower!!!), cleaned out the fridge, found my seeds, homeschooled, exercised & took care of the kiddlins. Dinner was fried chicken chunks, mashed tater...

101 in 1001

Huh? You say? I found & meandered over to Lindsey's blog this evening. I really enjoyed it and then moreso, when I found this entry . She writes: The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days. The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (represent some amount of work on my part). Why 1001 Days? Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as new year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities. Need help figuring out your ending date? GO HERE . So off to her linky I went to punch in my start date of tomorrow (I'll be in bed soo...
