I have been so busy the last few days gardening, among other things. With everything so up in the air (Hubba's job, moving, house hunt, etc) I had held off gardening. It got to the point where I couldn't stand it anymore. So here are my logs for our Garden 2008. You know spring has sprung when you can't go 50 feet without seeing a yard sale sign! LOL... Yesterday we took Hubba to work, and on the way home we hit a few yard sales. I managed a fondue pot, brand new & in the box ($3), a "vintage" fire king loaf pan (like pyrex- 25¢), 4 quart sized canning jars (25¢ each) and a few freebie toys (the sweet lady gave the kids some toys). We headed home, so I could change & get the directions to Hubba's great-nephew's birthday party. It was an hour away. We went. It was one of those bouncy places. The kids had a BLAST! We ate pizza & chips, cake & ice cream. Ater almost 3 hours, we headed out. Hit Ingles on the way home for a few groceries, home to put them up & rest for a mo, then back out to pick up Hubba. On the way home, we stopped & picked up a bunch of frozen convenience foods for dinner. We plopped in front of a movie & snacked on jalapeño poppers, mozzie stick, shrimp spread & crackers, ho...

Fried spider anyone?!?!? No, I'm quite serious! I took the vac apart again yesterday, and got it working. Have no idea what the smell was, but the belt was fine. Cleaned it out, handle lays down, got my coffee made after all, yada yada..... Almost didn't make dinner. I was scared, LOL...... I really shouldn't have. As I was about to drop my first country fried steak into the hot oil, I spied t his...... Go on, click on it for a larger image..... IF.YOU.DARE. I'm glad the oil was HOT. And that's all I have to say about that!

That's what I have today, & it's not the touch of gold. I tried to vacuum. Got about 1/8 of the living room done & I smelled that burning rubber smell. Took it apart & everything is intact, so I cleaned it well & put it back together. Now I can't get the handle to release and lay down. Grrrrr..... Before I started vaccing, I started a pot of coffee. Went in after I "tried" to fix the vac to get some coffee thinking it should be done by then. Yeah, it was done alright- all over the counter, cabinets and floor. The latch for the pause feature was stuck. This thing is only a couple of months old!!! I got it all cleaned up & am running a bleach pot through with a towel all around it, LOL. So now I have a nasty carpet, a stinky kitchen, a bucket full of rags, no coffee & a headache! Hey, at least I tried, right?!?!?

A basement A decent sized kitchen A somewhat open floor plan A pantry!!! Sturdiness Nothing more than TLC needed (we've been in some that were just WOW! as far as what needed to be fixed)

You may remember me posting about my Hubba's accident in October . This time it was me & the kids. The following is a copy & paste of what I posted on my forums. We are fighting with the insurance company, so I'm taking out the details until this is resolved.

We looked at a LOT of homes on Saturday & 2 more on Sunday. The 2nd one on Sunday I was there about 3 minutes & said "I'm done." It smelled HORRIBLE, it was all sorts of falling apart & just GROSS!!! I mean, don't get me wrong, we can handle a home that needs TLC, but carpenters we are not! HUGE difference between downright fixer upper & a house needing some TLC. Out of the 6 or so (I lost count) we looked at on Saturday, this is the only one that really has stayed with us. Priced 13k over our budget, we're hoping to negotiate it down, based on 2 things- it just went into foreclosure & it needs a bit of work (the TLC kind, not the " ohno where does this wire go, " sort of stuff). It has 3 bedrooms on the main level, a nice open floor plan and a basement stubbed for a loo & framed for finishing.
