Hubba has something coming up & has been asked to bring in a sm all snack for 70 people. This along with what the other folks bring will be a bit of food I'm sure. They call this time "Manna." It is a surprise for the guests. Last time (when he was a guest) he said they all had little tags/labels on them. I offered to get these ready for him, so last night I hit Big Lots & found tins of Danish Butter Cookies for $2 a tin. Mmmm... yummy! He needs enough for 9 tables, so I spent $18 on them. Buying these cookies annihilated the need for serving bowls. Oh yeah & one for me (coming from Big Lots, I had to make sure they were fresh ya know *wink wink nudge nudge* ..... I printed Acts 8:15-17 on parchment look paper (which I already had from a previous project), added a clipart of a cross, and cut them using stamp edge effect decorative scissors: Then I printed the other side to make a greeting card effect with our name inside, folded them & taped them with tape...

It can make a 4 year old boy VERY happy!!! We went to Chinamart on Sunday. I found a Cars themed remnant for $1.31. I asked the gal in crafts if it was ok to open it so I could see what it looked like. She did. I said MINE! 1- 45"X14" remnant Cars fabric- $1.31 Stuffing & thread- Free, on hand My time- always The sight of him carrying it through the house, sharing it with his brother & the "thank you MOMMY"- PRICELESS!!!

I made this apron this morning. I'm in love. I did it without a pattern, so it's a bit rough, but I know EXACTLY where I need to revamp on the next one! I'll be cutting this one at the waist to make a half apron & starting a new one like this. But I wanted to share. And I'll even give myself a shameless plug- If you'd like to purchase one, LMK. I have a ton of stuff to make these, including different colours of denim, so I can make plenty. Here's a pic also, of what it will look like as a half apron. Picture the waistband fringed as well. As soon as I fix it, I'll post the new picture:

YAY!!! I'm finished! I love it. I have a few more touch up things to do, but those can be done while it's still together and inside. I used a flat white and a terra cotta coloured primer. Found 2 new handles in one of our hardware boxes, which I may go back and paint the same terra cotta colour. The reddish looks sorta dark in this pic, so it IS a little brighter.

I'm painting and old cabinet. No, let me rephrase. It used to be a shoe cabinet, til I ripped out the rods with plans to install a shelf inside (which I did do a temp one). Today, I primered it and have the first light coat of white on top. It's going into our dark horrible kitchen, so I'm wanting something bright and "lightening." Now I've painted the top and since it's the first coat, I have somewhat of a primitive finish. Should I leave it as is or should I completely white it? I had it in my dining room, and it went fine in there colourwise, but I really could use the space (cabinet wise) in the kitchen. What a beautiful day this is already shaping up to be! The hubby woke me with him this morning and we spent a very special morning together. I saw him off to work, and 2 of 3 kids are up and at'em. Hubby has ALL weekend off, a feat that hasn't been performed in a couple months! But what a busy weekend it will be. Tonight is our Film & Finger Food Friday. Every Friday we make a special dinner that we can eat on the living room floor & watch a movie. Rarely do we rent these. They are usually from the library or in our own personal collection (we have a few hundred movies!). Our meals range from chips & cheese, to massive spreads of what we like to call "Superbowl Nosh," to pizza (sometimes delivered, sometimes from frozen, sometimes from scratch), quesadillas, hot dogs, etc. It is such a great time and the boys love it. I told Melody I'd post the recipe for the lotion I "made" for folks for CHRISTmas. My Elders have excruciatingly dry winter skin. So when I saw the recipe calling for E cream, petroleum jelly & baby lotion, I though, not only would that be great in the ladies' smelly good baskets, but that *I* would LOVE to have some around the house. Unfortunately when I went looking at the last minute (I didn't find the recipe til the last minute) I couldn't find E cream. So here is *my* version of the lotion. A little goes a LONG way, trust me!!! Lotion Blend by Kayla: * 15oz bottle baby lotion * 8oz petroleum jelly * 4-5oz shea butter (this comes in a small tub, usually scented and is not the plain straight shea, but I'm sure that would work as well) Plop your ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix on low til slightly blended, then on medium til light and fluffy, scraping and folding every minute or so with a rubber spatula, to ensure total incorporation and blend...
